Bartlett Arboretum and Laboratory - approach through woodland in autumn light

Bartlett Arboretum & Laboratory

Snug Architects

A landscape-led research facility set within a private arboretum.

The proposal is shaped around a quiet sense of arrival - moving through woodland and planted routes before the architecture gradually reveals itself within the landscape.

Rather than treating the building as a single object, the design is broken into a series of simple rural forms, allowing external spaces, views and planting to pass between them.

Produced to present the new auditorium wing to investors and stakeholders, and to secure funding for the next phase.
